Chronic wounds are care-intensive and pose an overwhelming challenge for caregivers and health care systems worldwide i.e. 2-4%* of total health care costs. Meanwhile, wound healing is an under-investigated field of medical research and despite the growing need, standard care predominately continues to consist of bandages and dressings. More cost-efficient, easy to use and scalable treatments are urgently needed.
